A Drowned Seeking No Survival
By Karim Abualroos
A Drowned Seeking No Survival is a novel that moves between memory, exile, and fragmentation. Through interwoven voices, it explores the impossibility of escape, the struggle to exist within borders—both physical and imagined—and the haunting repetition of displacement.
My Story
I’m Karim Abualroos, a Palestinian writer and researcher based in Belgium. My work lies at the intersection of politics, culture, and memory in Palestine and the broader Middle East.
Holding an MA in Political Science (Democracy & Human Rights) from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, my research focuses on academic freedom, knowledge production on/with Palestine, Gaza’s lived realities, diaspora & identity, and youth political participation.
Alongside my academic work, I write essays and fiction, published in both regional and international outlets. A Drowned Seeking No Survival is part of this broader attempt to rethink narratives of exile, survival, and identity beyond ready-made frames.

“Writing, whether fiction or analysis, is for me a slow form of resistance—an attempt to unsettle the easy narratives and create space for memory, doubt, and new possibilities.”
